It is normal to worry about how you’ll appear on your first date, feeling fearful that your date will walk away disappointed. Most people looking for love today are invested in the art of online dating, planning dates throughout their week spending most of their time getting ready for their first dates.

The main issue is: What to Wear?

The best weapon on the first date is to appear in an outfit that combines intelligence and your own unique trendy style. You probably wonder what it means. Don’t worry I am here to help out :)

Preparing for the first date can be a perfect excuse to hit the mall and pick out some new trendy items. But remember, there is no rule saying that you have to wear something new. It is just a way for you to boost your confidence. Therefore, my first rule is to be yourself.

Come up with a style that you know you like to wear and get most compliments on from your co-workers, family, and friends. Items you wear that makes you feel good, will also make you feel comfortable during your date. Wait! Sometimes we wear something that seems too comfortable – don’t wear your pajamas. Make sure you wear something that’s not worn out or ruined. Don’t forget that a lot can be achieved with good steam iron or well-chosen accessories.

My second rule is to wear something that's more attractive. Easy said than done, right? Consider wearing a certain color that will attract your date. Bright colors like red and yellow can provide a positive effect on men (men will probably never wear bright colors). On ENT psychological studies, women wearing brights colors can be considered more appealing to men (page 324, prodsty).

My third rule, wear something that highlights your best feature. For example, I would wear a blue shirt since it brings out my eye color. I will only recommend wearing black or dark colors if you have a light colored hair or if it makes you look and feel thinner. The main idea is for you to feel comfortable. Wearing something that you’re not comfortable in ruins it not just for you, but for your partner too. On a side note, I also recommend doing a little research on the place you both made reservations for and dress appropriately.

Now… What not to wear! Ladies if you are comfortable with a dress wear a dress, but not a wedding dress or a dancing club outfit. Wearing something too sexy, or too “showy” can attest your efforts. Furthermore, heavy makeup is unnecessary, keep it simple, elegant and presentable.

My fourth rule, listen to your inner voice. If the date goes well, keep up the good work ;)
